About Me

I was raised outside Washington, D.C., took the scenic route through college (which in my case involved Mexico and Central America), and then started the work I’m doing now. I have family in the Midwest and on the East Coast, and friends in more places, sadly, than it is convenient to visit.

As far as anonymity goes, I don’t mind people being able to figure out who I am from this site, but I do mind people being able to find this site merely from knowing my name. This is mainly because I envision wanting to be more candid here (particularly about organizing-related things) than I necessarily can be in my work as a community organizer for a congregation-based community organization in Kentucky. (This doesn’t amount to dishonesty, I don’t think, as much as it’s a realistic response to the primacy of relationship when working people through things that are new to them. A post on what I mean by this some other time, perhaps.)

Anything else, I think, will have to wait until I’ve been doing this long enough to know what exactly is relevant and useful to say, and until some sort of identity for this project evolves.

A few housekeeping issues:

  1. The header image is the floor of a church in Costa Rica. If I remember correctly, it was in Heredia and was taken on the single best picture-taking day of my life.
  2. All the content on this site belongs exclusively to me unless otherwise noted. If I decide at some point to worry about other, subtler ways of dealing with the issue of intellectual property, you, dear reader, will be the first to know.
  3. You can contact me at prosopopeya /at/ gmail.com.
  4. Those of you who can speak no Spanish will at some points find posts in Spanish. Don’t be frightened. Most entries are in English.
